Depo Darm
Contemporary Art Space
We created the identity for an Athenian art gallery based in Kessariani, an area known for its shooting range, where hundreds of Greeks were killed during the Nazi occupation in WWII. The name - a phonetic expression of the French ‘depot d'armes’ (armoury) - was inspired by the gallery’s location and ‘depot’, Greek slang for a storage space for art. The dynamic logotype refers to the Dexion structures used by galleries to store artworks, but also suggests a canvas and a frame.
The catalogue for the gallery’s first group show, Transformation, was designed to allow for transmutations: it changes shape and orientation as the reader flips through the pages.
